Heroin & Gun Charges Levied Against Trenton Resident

Another major drug bust for the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force. This time, they seized more than $60,000 in cash and $30,000 worth of narcotics while conducting a search warrant on a Trenton apartment.

Based on the reports, the investigation was headed up by the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force but both the Trenton and Hamilton Police Departments were heavily involved. It appears that they were investigating the Defendant for at least the last six weeks prior to Monday’s raid. According to nj.com, when the officers breached the home, the Defendant tried to have his pit bull attack them. When that attempt failed, the Defendant surrendered without any further issues and was taken into custody. During the execution of the search warrant the officers uncovered 72 bricks of heroin, more than 500 Xanax and Oxycodone pills, a .45 caliber handgun and $60,377 in cash. The task force estimates that drugs seized had a street value of more than $30,000. As a result of their findings and their investigation, the Defendant was charged with various drug possession and drug distribution offenses as well as unlawful possession possession of a weapon and aggravated assault on a police officer charges. The Defendant was taken to the Mercer County Jail where he remains pending a detention hearing. If the Mercer County prosecutor’s office is successful during the detention hearing the Defendant will remain in the Mercer County Jail, without bail.
